What event or moment occurred that led you towards your passion and what is your passion?
I knew since the 7th grade that I wanted to be a hairdresser, but after a change of direction in my life as a teenager, my dream got away from me. Life doesn't always go how we plan, I had made some pretty bad decisions and had found myself in some even worse situations. Eventually, I realized that an extreme change needed to occur and I found myself in Arizona in an attempt to re-establish myself, and my life. I made the decision that if ever, that was the time to do what I always wished I had done.
I found a job with a schedule that would allow me work during the day and attend beauty school five nights a week. Throughout that period of time I met people in and out of the beauty industry that helped me, taught me, inspired me and made me grow both as a creative professional, and a person. I'm continuously finding inspiration in both individuals and art, and it drives my passion even now.
Currently, I am a licensed beauty professional, I work full time behind the chair doing what I love, I am a business owner, I am an artist, and I am consistently pushing the boundaries of what I think I'm capable of both professionally and personally.
Please describe key elements (Self Awareness, Creativity, Reflecting in Nature, Expression, Art, Music, or Mindful Living) or actions that helped you overcome obstacles today?
Expression and Art is what drives my work, my life, and ultimately was the catalyst and means for me to make a change in my life. I get to regularly create individually tailored pieces of art for people, and see others in my field do the same. When not creating for others, I am using various mediums of art to express my own thoughts, feelings and challenges throughout life. Through creation I have evolved and have a better understanding of myself.
What is the biggest lesson youβve learned from a past experience that you carry with you?
The biggest lesson I've learned, and continue to learn is that you have to be your own biggest fan, you have to do what it takes to impress yourself, and make yourself proud. Keep your goals big, and check in on them frequently. Mindfulness is integral part of manifesting them into reality.
